Aims and Objectives

The symposium is a key element of Home is a Holy Place, the second phase of Celebrating Family: Blessed, Broken, Living Love, the plan of collaborative action adopted by the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales in response to Listening 2004: My Family My Church.

The symposium aims to be a catalyst for a wider understanding of home-centred spirituality by inspiring, informing and inviting the collaboration of those in positions of leadership within the church.

The symposium has the additional tangible aim of developing practical strategies by which the parish church can both nourish and harness the holiness of the home.   

Outcomes

• Creation of practical parish-based strategies for supporting homes as holy places
• Development of terms of reference for understanding and developing support for marital and family spirituality
• Concrete direction for the Home is a Holy Place working group
• A higher profile for marital and family spirituality
